IDP Education is the world's largest student placement
firm
Overview:
IDP Education
is the world's largest student placement firm, with more than 500
professional counselors in more than 70 company-owned counseling
centers throughout Asia and the Middle East. What sets IDP
apart is its commitment to students; the counselors are company
employees who have been professionally trained and who are focused
on creating the right match between student and institution.
The company has existed for more than 40 years and its assessment,
matching and application support services are the gold standard in
international recruitment, which is why one in four students
currently enrolled in an Australian higher education program were
placed by IDP. The organization is jointly owned by 38
Australian universities and SEEK.com, Australia's leading online
employment and training company. It is part owner of the
IELTS English proficiency exam and is a major sponsor of
international education research.
History:
IDP Education
was established in 1969 as an aid body funded by the Australian
government to strengthen teaching and research in South Asia
institutions. By 1984, the aid program had expanded to
include the South Pacific, and became the International Development
Program (IDP) of Australian Universities and Colleges. Since
then, it has grown into an organization with three major business
arms: international student recruitment, English language testing,
and the management of international aid projects. It also
developed and operates one of the world’s largest international
education conferences, the Australian International Education
Conference, AIEC.
